This prestigious ceremony is dedicated to honoring and celebrating the remarkable contributions of Female Yoga Teachers and Practitioners across the country. Please take note of the following categories under which you can submit your nomination.

Shivani Yogini Award (Life time achievements)

Shivani is better known as Parvati (or Gauri) and is a Hindu goddess. Shivani is Shakti, the wife of Shiva and the gentle aspect of Mahadevi, the Great Goddess. Shivani is considered to be complete incarnation of Adi Parashakti, with all other goddesses being her incarnations or manifestations.

Gargi Yogini Award (Special Research)

The accolade is dedicated to an ancient Indian philosopher, Gargi Vachaknavi (c. 7th century BCE), who is celebrated as the earliest known female philosopher in India. She is revered for her profound interpretations of timeless wisdom found in Vedic literature. Notably, she engaged in a philosophical debate where she fearlessly challenged the prominent male sage Yajnavalkya, marking her as the sole female to undertake such an endeavor. It is also believed that Gargi Vachaknavi authored numerous hymns in the Rigveda.

Yogini Award (Long time practitioner)

Yogini (Sanskrit: योगिनी, IAST: yoginī) is a female master practitioner of tantra and yoga, as well as a formal term of respect for female Hindu or Buddhist spiritual teachers in Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia and Greater Tibet.

Gonika Award (Institutional Yogini)

Gonika (Sanskrit: गोनिका) Maharshi is the mother of patanjali. she was a sage in ancient Tamilakam, thought to be the author of a number of Sanskrit and Tamil works. The greatest of these are the Yoga Sutras, a classical yoga text.

Maitrayi Award (Yoga well wishers)

Maitreyi (Sanskrit: मैत्रेयी) (“friendly one”) was an Indian philosopher who lived during the later Vedic period in ancient India. … Maitreyi appears in ancient Indian texts, such as in a dialogue where she explores the Hindu concept of Atman (soul or self) in a dialogue with Yajnavalkya in the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad.
